ABOUT ME

I am a graduate student in the Teacher Education Program at University of California Santa Barbara, pursuing my Master of Education degree and Single Subject Teaching Credential in English Language Arts. In the spring of 2019, I graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in English, a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Film, Television and Digital Media. I have previously worked as an instructor for an international tutoring company and held online video sessions with students in Beijing, helping them improve their English language and writing skills. My pursuit of an advanced degree in teacher education is guided by my desire to share my love of literature and writing with students at the secondary level. By fostering an essential understanding of my students and the strengths they bring to the classroom, I hope to provide them the empathy they need to learn to advocate for themselves, such that they go on to become self-directed individuals determined to achieve personal success independent of others’ expectations.
